Schizostachyum Brachycladum
"Giant Golden Bamboo"

I have been regarded by some as the most beautiful bamboo in the world! I have very erect gold/yellow green-striped long internoded culms, uninterrupted by branches until mid height where I breaks into a crown of huge light green yellow-striped slightly rough leaves.

My young shoots are bronze-red with cup shaped reddish blades that contrast with the clean golden culms as my shoots elongate. I make an outstanding ornamental, and under ideal conditions can grow to 50 feet in height with 4 inch diameter culms. I do not like to be frozen!
